The People's Party

A message from Ron Paul

January 17, 2010

Dear Iowa Campaign for Liberty Member:

Thank you for your continued support and work on behalf of Liberty. Without your efforts and those of tens of thousands like you, our cause would be lost.

I am writing you today with an important message about upcoming caucuses in Iowa.

Both Iowa Campaign for Liberty (ICFL) and the national Campaign for Liberty (C4L) have been rightfully stressing the importance of getting involved at every level to help shape the political landscape!

That’s why it’s extremely important that each of you attend your local precinct caucus for the party of your choice.

You have a magnificent opportunity to speak out for constitutionally limited government, individual liberty, sound money, free markets, and a non-interventionist foreign policy at both the Democrat and Republican caucuses to be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, January 23, 2010. [See websites below for exact location.]

As I understand it, basically three things happen at your local precinct caucus:

(1.) Election of two Party Committee people to help run their precinct for the next two years;

(2.) Election of Delegates to your County Convention to be held on March 6. [Delegates at the County Convention, in turn, elect Delegates to the district conventions held April 24th (Dist 2,3,5), and May 1st (Dist 1,4); and the same Delegates also attend the State Convention, on June 26th];

(3.) Draft a precinct platform which will be consolidated with the other precincts in your County and voted upon (after debate) at your County Convention. Please take part in this process and attend your Caucus, then County, District, and State Conventions.

Also, the very important elections for State Central Committee are held at the District conventions, and this is our opportunity to vote only for party leaders who embrace Campaign for Liberty’s principles.  We encourage you to propose platform planks at your Caucus, then County, District, and State Conventions. You can find some good ideas that represent the C4L mission statement at: http://www.campaignforliberty.com/pdfs/talkingpoints.pdf

These caucuses are a great opportunity to show our strength in Iowa and promote our ideas.

I sincerely hope you will take the time to attend and be active in this process.

I am also happy to announce to you that C4L is in the process of making arrangements for a Regional Conference in Iowa sometime in May. And after talking it over with C4L staff and the ICFL leadership, we have decided to hold a special, private event for all of you who attend the District and State Conventions for the Republican or Democrat Party. Drew, A.J., and Dave will also obtain names of Convention attendees from the respective political parties to identify those of you who made it all the way to the State Convention.

Thanks again for all you do to help restore our liberties.

I hope you will take the time to attend your caucuses and hopefully to move on to the county, district, and state levels.

Your hard work is paying off. We must keep up the fight, and you in Iowa have a unique opportunity to make an impact now.

I look forward to seeing you in May.

Ron Paul
